St Joseph's Day, Tabloid Sports

Tuesday 19th March was St Joseph’s Day Feast Day. The whole school attended mass to celebrate the leadership Saint Joseph showed. Saint Joseph is also special to our school because Saint MacKillop and the Sisters of St Joseph were inspired by Saint Joseph. Saint Joseph is also the foster father of Jesus. The following day, the whole school came together to celebrate with fun tabloid sports in our houses. We all got to play so many fun and exciting games. Thank you to our leaders who prepared this.

writing

We have been writing our accident stories and have been learning to entertain and amaze our audience.
We have also been trying to make interesting for our audience. Here is mine:A Tiny Little Accident.

I am learning to entertain my audience through a recount.

It was a rather normal day, normal, normal, normal. Everything was as normal as could be. “Children?” my grandpa called. “Are you coming to walk to school with us today Grandpa?” my sister shouted hoping for the right answer, which would be yes. I grabbed onto him and started trying to pull him with us to go to school. “No, no, I’m not coming,” Grandad replied as if we should know he never comes to walk us to school with Grandma. “Go with your Grandma, I have other jobs to do,” he told us. We knew at this moment that we should leave Grandpa alone. It was all settled.

Walking along the footpath out of the house on that Monday morning my sister, grandma and I, walked behind grandpa, who was in a hurry to get to the supermarket to get some supplies and of course his lotto ticket. Unaware of us, our grandpa turned around the corner, which led to the Main Road, we followed behind him quietly as we knew he was on a mission.

Walking along the footpath there was a dark blue car parked in their driveway, this forced me to walk behind the car. As I was walking all of a sudden I found myself on the ground. I sat in shock wondering how I had tripped. Was it a stone or a rock? Nope no rock. Was it a hole or a dip in the ground? No, no hole. At this point I looked at my shoes maybe they were to blame. No shoelaces were tied up, but had clearly tripped over the front of my shoe. As I sat there pondering what had happened, all of a sudden the screams of terror broke my concentration. My sister and grandma were looking at me in horror.

Following their eyes I looked down to my knee and saw something that was rather odd. There was a wound that was white, expecting to see blood but was strangely white. The cut had been so large that it hadn’t even thought to bleed. From all the screaming I quickly informed my family, “ I’m fine, I’m fine, totally fine.” Even though inside I was a little worried.

My grandma and sister took me home to mum, mums always know what to do. By this point my knee had started to bleed a lot, yeah quite a bit. Mum cleaned it up and wrapped up the wound. To this day I still don’t actually know what tripped me up but I was a lot more cautious when walking to school.

Swimming sports

Room 6 had a wonderful day at swimming sports. When we all went to the turf we split up into our houses. Thank you Sharyn and parents for helping us with the non competitive swimming and competitive. Also thank you parents for coming along and supporting your children. Good shepherd students thank the teachers very warmly, as every year as they set up and prepare this event for us. I’m sure that every student enjoyed the event. I saw everyone compete with my own eyes and they all did well. The people who lost don’t have to be sad because they should be grateful they got a swim in the warm weather also because there’s always time and effort to improve.

Ash Wednesday

Today was Ash Wednesday. We went to church and sang some hymns, got the ashes on our foreheads, sung happy birthday to a little girl starting school on her birthday! We then went up and got a blessing. We did make an attempt to keep our ashes on our foreheads, but that was a fail due to swimming and itching it off. We had a good day and hope everyone else did to.

Shrove Tuesday

Tuesday was Shrove Tuesday. We all had a great day in room 6. The festivities started with the burning of the ashes on the turf. This was a new and exciting experience that not many of us had seen before.

Later on during Religious Education we learnt more about Shrove Tuesday and Lent. People used to get rid of all their luxury items such as flour, sugar, butter, eggs and milk by making pancakes. We were even able to enjoy some pancakes of our own. We all thought it was a great start to lent and we are looking forward to the Lenten

season as we prepare for the death and resurrection of Jesus. We are the season of Lent and it is a time of preparation.

shine week

A sea of orange flood Good Shepherd School on Friday the 8th of March. This week was shine week. We raise money to help people whose lives are affected domestic violence. In support we all wore orange clothes and brought a gold coin donation to help the charity. Here are some pictures:
